Paul Johnston and Andy Daniel made a little bit of history when they became the first couple to have a real life wedding on the famous cobbles. The set, where Coronation Street was filmed for 53 years, is now home to the official tour of the popular soap and once the couple heard about the tour, they were eager to see if they could get married there. A wedding license was granted in June, allowing Andy and Paul to take their wedding vows in The Rovers Return. Ansy and Paul said "I do" in the Rovers Return Speaking to Manchester Evening News, Paul said "My background is in TV journalism so I’ve written about plenty of soap weddings, so it seemed entirely apt to have one of my own - although we’re hoping there isn’t quite as much drama involved at ours than in the soaps!” Events organiser Andy added: “We’re both big fans of the show, but I think anyone born or living in the UK knows Coronation Street, which makes it such an iconic venue. "We wanted to do something totally different for our wedding, and you can’t get much better than marrying in the nation’s most famous pub.” The couple and their 32 guests got snap happy at the ceremony The company behind the tour did not have any plans to secure a wedding license but after a number of enquiries, they decided to look into it. Paul and Andy, who are together for 12 years, were first to tie the knot on the famous cobbles but there are two further weddings planned before the tour site closes in October. The couple also revealed their favourite Corrie weddings, “I absolutely loved the wedding of Karen and Steve McDonald, where Tracy Barlow arrives, reveals she’s pregnant, and it all kicked off with a stiletto" said Paul.
