On Friday night of last week, Marvel announced that Edgar Wright had departed the Ant-Man project, a film he had been working on since 2006. The official word from the company was that there were differences of opinion in the direction the film was heading.
The statement read that “The decision to move on is amicable and does not impact the release date on July 17, 2015. A new director will be announced shortly.”
However, not all was as it seemed.
Latino Review were reporting over the weekend that two other script writers had been brought to work on Wright and Cornish's script and that the result was completely unlike the film that they wanted to make.
Other rumours that began floating around was that Wright had been fired from the project because he was behind schedule.
The Twitter replies from those in support of Wright are beginning to tell a different story. Over the weekend, Joss Whedon tweeted a picture of a Cornetto in obvious solidarity with Wright.

Guardians of the Galaxy, also posted the below to Facebook.
Meanwhile, Wright sort of broke his silence on the affair by tweeting the below "selfie." The image is of Buster Keaton whose career went into decline when lost his artistic independence with MGM. Wright is obviously upset about exiting the project.
Either way, Marvel are still going ahead with the release date in 2015 so we'll have to see who will be named for the project.
