Scandalous. 

Disney's Recess is getting a live-action remake and all our '90s dreams have come true. The series ran for 127 episodes and four movies in the late 1990s, and was one of our favourite go-to Saturday morning cartoons. Now, 20 years later, a group of Canadian filmmakers are crowd-funding a live-action remake of the series. The fan-made movie would explore what happened to TJ, Spinelli, Gretchen, Vince, Mikey, Gus, Randall, the Ashleys and the rest of Third Street Elementary School when they went to high school. According to the Indiegogo campaign, the film's description reads:

"When Mikey gets his fragile heart broken by Ashley A, the gang (with TJ at the helm) try and cheer him up with treats at Kelso's corner store. On their quest to make Mikey smile again, they discover that something more sinister than a break-up is brewing at Third Street High... "There's trouble lurking in the shadows and it ain't Finster, folks. "

The filmmakers have said the re-imaging would be "tackling current issues like love, peer pressure, social media, identity, etc.” Any funds raised through the campaign will go towards supporting the film. If funded, the film - which has already been shot - will be released for free on the internet. The cast includes Deadly Class' Benjamin Wadsworth as TJ Detweiller; Louriza Tronco as Ashley Spinelli; and Sean Depner as Mike Blumberg. Lillian Doucet-Roche also stars as Gretchen Grundler, with Clive Holloway taking the on the role of Gus Griswald and Fritzy Klevans Destine as Vince LaSalle.
