Dermot Bannon’ll be showing off his own home in new 2020 show

What a show this will be. Every single one of us enjoys Room To Improve.  Well, every single of us that is except for the people who have dubbed it as "disgusting" and "pathetic" which is potentially fair enough, yeah. Regardless, the RTÉ show is a pretty popular programme and Dermot Bannon is a pretty popular guy. It makes sense then that the network are planning on capitalising on the hype as much as they possibly can by giving Dermo the chance to show off his own home instead. The architect's Drumcondra home has been undergoing a lot of renovations for the past six months, so it only seems fitting that he should get a couple of shows out of it too. Two, to be precise. "Viewers have a lot to look forward to, as Dermot will open the doors to his own home in a two-part series airing on RTÉ One this coming January," a spokesperson told the Irish Mirror. Delightful news altogether. This comes after Dermot himself said that he thinks Room To Improve should continue for many years to come, despite much chat around its relevance during a time when a lot of people in Ireland can't afford rent. "It’s about the characters, it’s about their journey," he argued. "The budgets are the budgets – I’m asking this question all week – should we just stop making it? "If I did a €20,000 extension for someone’s house and spent an hour talking through it, nobody would watch. "There’s very few houses we do on Room To Improve now where it’s not really a room to improve, it’s the whole house."
