Harry Potter fan's hearts broke last week when Daniel Radcliffe revealed that he wouldn't be reprising the role of Harry if a new movie was to be made about the play Harry Potter and The Cursed Child.
He said that he didn't want to close the door necessarily but right now it's not something he's interested in doing. It's been five years since we've seen him play the lead role but it looks like we could be waiting a long time until we see him pick up the wand and invisibility cloak again.
We'll just have to live with his decision for now and hope for another Harry Potter movie in the future with or without Daniel involved.
But that does leave the question of who would step up for the role and now Daniel has had his say on the matter.
I was on London to chat with the star, who's currently promoting two new movies, Imperium and Swiss Army Man. When I asked him to pick who he would like to play the role he said, "I feel like Elijah Wood gets recognized as me so much that he may as well have a go at playing the part."
He did also mention that Jamie Parker, who currently plays the role in the play, would be perfect for the part too.
Elaborating on his decision to not play the role again he said:
"I'm never saying no and closing the door on anything totally, but I feel like it would take a small miracle, I don't know I just can't think of at the moment the circumstances that would have to exist for me to go back. It would be weird."
We also spoke about a role that he would love to play in the future, some of the weird stories he's heard about himself in the press and of course his night out with the Dublin minors a few years back which lead to him returning a €50 note to the team in the post.
I also asked if he could play one other Harry Potter character which he would choose.
