The film adaption of the novel is expected to start in New Orleans and Louisiana some time in April. Big Little Lies actress Reese Witherspoon is coming on board as the film's producer.
Incidentally, Reese is a huge fan of the novel - she selected it for her Hello Sunshine Book Club in 2018.
The movie adaption of Where The Crawdads sing is a long time coming. Talks of a film began just months after the book was published, and Witherspoon and Owens met two years ago to discuss movie plans.
In October 2020, Daisy Edgar Jones was announced as one of the film's leads.
The Normal People actress, who will play Kya, shared a picture of her script last night.
Edgar Jones snapped a photo of the book alongside her script with her name displayed very clearly.

The actress wrote "So it begins" across the screen, while tagging the film's official Instagram and Sony Pictures.
Last February, Daisy joined The Duchess of Cornwall's Reading Room to talk about the novel and it's adaption. The actress told Camilla that she fell "so deeply in love with the world that Delia created". She praised the novelist's ability in crafting deep and complex characters. Daisy spoke particularly highly of her own character Kya, and the unique perspective she possesses.Explore more on these topics:
