It is still considered one of the most famous dresses in history, and now the late Princess Diana’s wedding dress is set to come into the possession of her sons, Prince William and Prince Harry. The gown has been in the care of Charles Spencer, Diana's brother, since her untimely death following a car accident 17 years ago. Now, the iconic garment will be transferred from the Spencer Althorp estate in Northampton to her sons. The move comes as Prince Harry reaches his 30th birthday on September 15th. The world watched as Diana Spencer became the Princess of Wales on July 29, 1981, walking the aisle in a show-stopping ivory silk and taffeta lace gown adorned with thousands of pearls and boasting a 25-foot train. The dress was designed for the Princess by David and Elizabeth Emanuel. Since Diana's death the gown has been all over the world for exhibitions, including twice yearly displays at Althorp. Diana's sons are also set to receive treasured mementos including family jewels, personal letters and the score and lyrics to the version of Candle in the Wind that Elton John played at Diana's funeral. The transfer of property fulfils Diana's will, which stipulated that the dress should be given to her sons after Harry turns 30. Harry is also set to inherit a sum of money, believed to be in the region of £10 million, from his mothers estate. William already received his monetary inheritance when he turned 30 in 2012.
