She’s half of one of the country’s most popular couples, but long before she and Brian O’Driscoll decided to put a ring on it, Amy Huberman’s star was rising in her own right.
So, it’s perhaps understandable that the actress and author would bristle at being called a WAG.
On Tuesday evening Huberman took to her Twitter account, which has over 100,000 followers and lashed out at use of the moniker, which stands for Wives and Girlfriends, usually of sportsmen.

In two tweets Threesome actress Amy wrote:
“Are we seriously saying it’s okay to legitimately use the term WAG in 2013? Such an openly derogatory term would not be tolerated… Regards to race or religion for example. Is it still okay to overtly keep sexism alive and well?
The tweets were subsequently deleted, but not before many of Huberman’s followers had reacted, with some agreeing wholeheartedly and others expression confusion at the sentiment.
