Melanie Sykes and Jack Cockings are reportedly on a “trial separation” after seven months of marriage.
The news comes only a matter of weeks after the television presenter and model (43) was allegedly
arrested on suspicion of common assault on her husband (28) after a row between them escalated.
A source told
The Sun on Sunday: “The age difference just became too much. It’s not a case of Mel ending the marriage because Jack called the police. But what happened was obviously an indication that things weren’t right.”
However Melanie has implied on Twitter that recent reports surrounding her marriage are not true. She wrote: “A huge thank you to all my supporters who are smart enough not to believe everything they read in the papers. I love you guys. Xxxxxxxxxxxxxx”.
The couple, who met on Twitter and are known for
their public displays of affection,
tied the knot earlier this year after getting engaged last summer. Melanie was previously married to actor Daniel Caltagirone with whom she has two children, Roman and Valentino.
