Grown men and women across the world wept yesterday as Goldenballs confirmed he was hanging up his boots. Becks, who made his professional debut with Manchester United at the tender age of 17, went on to captain the England squad for six years and was twice named FIFA World Player of the Year. We’ll miss you Becks.

 

 

Gary Lucy

Star of Footballers Wives, The Bill and Hollyoaks, Gary Lucy made his way to Walford in September of last year for a guest stint in popular soap Eastenders. He must have done something right, as it's now been announced that he’s returning to the BBC show as a permanent cast member from June of this year.

 

One Direction

Boyband One Direction made their many fans’ dreams come true yesterday with the announcement that they were to embark on a stadium tour, starting with a list of dates in Latin America, Ireland and the UK. As part of the tour the fivesome will play to over 80,000 fans in Dublin’s Croke Park next May. Is it wrong that we want to go?
