"It helped that no one was coming within a mile radius of my vagina after the trauma of childbirth but it was also because, when I was pregnant and went for my first appointment with a gynaecologist, I remember being extremely embarrassed about my untrimmed bush." "So much so that I didn't want her to do a swab. She informed me that it was imperative that she did and as I got into the gown, I said: 'I'm so sorry, I haven't shaved and it looks disgusting'." "She looked at me in horror and the 17-year-old me assumed she'd refuse to do the swab and send me back to shave and wash. "Much to my surprise, her horrified look was because she couldn't believe that I was apologising and so ashamed of my natural hair."
