It turns out Avril Lavigne and Chad Kroeger did get married, albeit a few days later than everyone first thought.

The Complicated singer confirmed the news on Twitter last night. “I’m so excited to tell you the rumors are true... Chad and I got married yesterday!” she wrote before linking to an article by HELLO! magazine who are said to have exclusivity.

However a number of photographs have already emerged online (courtesy of POPSUGAR) seemingly showing the happy couple on their special day which took place near Cannes in the South of France.

This is one of the pictures doing the rounds on Twitter.

Avril, who wore a black tulle Monique Lhuillier gown, and her Nickelback beau apparently tied the knot at Chateau de la Napoule one year after they started dating.

The couple, who got engaged last August, celebrated with close friends and family over the course of three days.

Speaking about her relationship last year, Avril said: “It was very natural. We were friends having a good time and then it just happened. It felt like fate was intervening and I was just being given this wake-up call: don’t let this one get away.”
