"This is a movement, not a moment.”

Disability activist Sinead Burke is on the latest cover for British Vogue and has vowed that the disability issue is a "movement not a moment". The 33 year old has acted as a consultant for the "Reframing Fashion: Dynamic, Daring & Disabled" issue of the magazine. The issue also features Selma Blair, sign language performer Justina Miles and the models Aaron Rose Philip and Ellie Goldstein. Sinead has achondroplasia, a disorder that affects bone growth due to a genetic mutation in the arms and legs, and revealed how she hopes this new feature proves to be a milestone in diversity. She said: “With its cultural relevance, highlighting and honouring the disabled community in the pages of British Vogue creates a call to action for the much-needed change in other parts of the fashion industry, and beyond. “Accessibility and disability inclusion are everyone’s responsibility and opportunity — this is a movement, not a moment.” Fellow Irish influencers were quick to congratulate Sinead on the cover and praise the message that she's putting across. Pippa O'Connor wrote: "Amazing," while Louise O'Reilly said: "Amazing Sinead. Beyond thrilled for you." British Vogue editor-in-chief Edward Enninful also said that working on the new issue as "one of the proudest moments of my career". He added that the aim of this issue and the magazine in general is to remind people "how hard it is for the disabled community". There are 19 disabled people from the various different backgrounds of fashion, sport, culture and activism featured in the issue, from interviews, personal essays and more.
