Rachel Purcell welcomed her first child into the world on August 28th and has been sharing the sweetest updates about her little boy ever since his arrival last month.
The doting mum has been sharing snippets of motherhood with her Instagram followers since welcoming her son, but kept his name under wraps until this week.
Rachel revealed that she called her baby boy Sonny.
The mum confirmed her son's moniker in a charming post on Instagram yesterday evening.
Alongside a video of her newborn, she simply wrote: "Two weeks with Sonny."
Rachel's followers couldn't help but gush about her baby boy's name, with many saying it was a perfect choice.
"Ahh love this name, it was in our final list. We had our son a month before you! Congrats!" one said.
"That’s my son’s name too. Beautiful name for beautiful boys," another mum wrote.
"Such a dote. Love the name, we have a Sonny in the family too," another added.
"Love the name. He's just adorable," said another.
The name is of English origin and is slowly becoming one of the most popular baby names for boys.
It has risen in popularity in recent years, with more Irish parents opting for the charming name.
In 2024, Sonny was ranked 38th of all baby boys recorded in Ireland, according to the CSO.
In total, 147 baby boys were recorded with the name Sonny in this year.
