Princess Diana has been described as a fashion icon and if you look at pictures, you'll see why with her co-ordinated suits and stunning ballgowns always impeccably stylish. As you can imagine, she worked closely with some of fashion's most well-known designers, the late Gianni Versace was a close friend. However, there was one designer Diana never wore and it turns out there's a rather specific reason for that. Visiting Australia in 1996, Diana met designer Jayson Brundel and during one conversation, she explained why she couldn't bring her self to wear pieces from the esteemed French designer. Chatting to Harper's Bazaar, Jayson explained how one of his friends, Joh Bailey, was appointed her personal hairdresser during the trip and he went along as an assistant. Jayson gave an in-depth interview to the publication which you can check out in full here and he discussed how he helped Diana to style her look on that particular day. The mother of two chose a Versace suit but wasn't sure what shoes to pair with it and when he suggested Chanel, she hesitated. The heels featured the trademark Chanel logo, interlocking CC's, and Diana refused to try them when Jayson said they would look great with the cream suit.

Diana said " no, I can't wear linked Cs, the double C" and when Jayson asked why she said "Camilla and Charles".

Diana and Charles separated in 1992 but the divorce wasn't finalised until 1996, not long before her trip to Australia.

Jayson went on to say:

"It was definitely the timing, it being post-divorce. She would have seen linked Cs and they would have just reminded her of Charles and Camilla.

"The shoes were quite boldly Chanel, I think they had gold linked Cs on them. And I think for photo optics, people would have honed in on that considering it was so fresh after the divorce as well."
