Television star Chris Tarrant suffered a mini-stroke during a long-haul flight last week, it has been revealed.
The
Who Wants To Be A Millionaire host was on a flight from Thailand to London when he fell ill. He was then rushed to hospital from Heathrow Airport and has been there ever since.
According to
The Mirror doctors had to perform an emergency operation when they discovered a potentially fatal blood clot in his leg.
The 67-year-old’s agent and manager Paul Vaughan explained: “They found a clot which they managed to break up. It was a clot in the leg and that can immediately go to the brain or lungs.”
He also added: “He is determined to leave hospital. But he’s not going back to work. This is a nasty wake-up call.”
Tarrant, who had been filming a travel series in Burma for Channel 5, is still in Charing Cross Hospital but has been allowed to make daytime trips to his flat in recent days.
