Singer Seth Avett has announced on his band’s website that his marriage is over as it emerges he was having an affair with actress Jennifer Carpenter.

Apparently the front man of The Avett Brothers (they’re an American band) has been dating the Dexter star since 2011 after she split from her husband and co-star Michael C Hall.

Jennifer and Michael called time on their marriage back in 2010. 

A source told RadarOnline.com that the romance is the reason behind the breakdown of Seth’s five-year marriage to Susan.

They said: “She (Jennifer) would fly all over to his concerts to be with him... No one saw this affair coming from those closest to Seth, but he finally left his wife last winter to be with Jennifer.”

The musician revealed his marriage was over this week. 

The insider added that Seth's wife wasn’t the only person the affair affected. “The affair was really hard on Susan, and even the band,” they explained.

“It was former band member Jacob Edwards and his wife that really put Seth on the spot for cheating. They didn’t agree with it whatsoever and were uncomfortable with the situation.”
