Every woman has a completely different check list when it comes to potential suitors, but it seems fair enough to say that everyone wants a man you’d be proud to bring home to mammy.
We doubt we, or mammy, will be getting our hands on these fellas anytime soon, but we’re taking inspiration from Celebville for five famous men we’d be happy to bring home to our mothers.

1) George Clooney
Of course he’s on the list. One of our favourite shared experiences with mammy back in the day was watching E.R. and swooning over Dr. Doug Ross, and ever since he’s been a bit of a dreamboat in our eyes, and in hers. She might have her reservations, knowing that he’s not the settling-down type, but she’d enjoy her connection while it lasted…

2) Joseph Gordon-Levitt
He’s so cuuuuuuute! JGL is one of those men that even your dad will like, not to mind mammy. He’s turned from the geeky young alien in Third Rock From the Sun into leading man material, and although we’d really like to see him marry Zooey Deschanel, if that doesn’t work out we’ll be waiting with open arms.

3) Michael Bublé
This one might be dangerous. Instead of patting you on the back for nabbing him, there’s every chance mammy would do her best to steal him for herself! This could turn into a messy ‘Graduate’ style situation for all involved. Irish mammies especially love Bublé. Young, cute and talented enough to appeal to the daughter, his brand of music is something in the charts that mammy gets, loves, and wants to share it. We’re bringing our mammies to the O2 with us for his visit. Girl’s night out!

4) Paul Rudd
We’ve had a serious soft spot for Paul Rudd ever since the Clueless days. He’s funny, self-deprecating, super-cute and he adores the Irish – so we’ve got an automatic in! Mammy would love him too, chances are she saw him on his Late Late Show appearance earlier this year so he’s already gotten her stamp of approval.

5) Robert Downey Jr.
The ultimate bad boy turned the ultimate family man. Iron Man himself would charm the socks out of your mother, father, sister, brother… you get the picture. You’d have the secret thrill of knowing his reckless past, while mammy just enjoys getting to know the delightful gentleman you’ve brought home. Wins all round!
