We wouldn’t be surprised if Nicholas Hoult did want to pop the question to Jennifer Lawrence (we certainly would) but even we were a little sceptical when we heard that the pair were engaged. This week OK! Magazine (the US version) reported that the two stars, who got back together last summer, are getting ready for a trip down the aisle having gotten engaged on Christmas Eve. A source apparently told the publication: “Jennifer is walking on air. She’s madly in love with Nicholas and is the happiest she’s ever been. Jen likes to live a relatively modest private life. She knows news of the engagement will make that harder if not impossible. And she is obsessed with her privacy.” (Convenient.) Nicholas and Jennifer recently got back together but are not engaged. They also described the proposal (which we’ll admit does sound kind of sweet albeit a tad farcical): “All the family had gathered in the living room, enjoying the night before Christmas when Nick asked for everyone’s attention and began giving a speech to Jennifer. “He stood up and took her hand, helping her to stand up as well. When she was on her feet, he knelt down and pulled the ring out of his pocket and asked her to marry him.” Numerous insiders close to the American Hustle actress have since denied the claims, one of whom told HollywoodLife.com that the story is “totally fabricated”. Guess we’ll put the hat away then!
