Coleen Rooney, wife of former Manchester United star Wayne Rooney, is reportedly set to join the cast of the popular ITV series I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!
That’s according to a report from The Sun, which claims Rooney could be one of the celebrity contestants when the show returns next month.
If the rumours are true, Coleen’s involvement would be a significant addition to this year’s cast.
A source told The Sun: “I’m A Celeb bosses have pulled off a huge coup,” adding that producers hope Coleen will open up about her personal life, including her marriage to Wayne Rooney and details of her high-profile legal battle with Rebekah Vardy.
The potential casting comes on the heels of Coleen’s ongoing popularity, bolstered by the recent Wagatha Christie saga - a legal dispute with fellow wag, Rebekah Vardy.
The public feud dates back to 2019, when Coleen famously accused Vardy of leaking stories about her to the press.
Coleen revealed that she had posted false information on her private Instagram stories, restricting access to only Vardy’s account, and watched as those stories were published in The Sun.
Vardy denied the accusations, claiming that others had access to her Instagram account.
The feud came to a head in a highly-publicised libel trial, which Coleen won in 2022. A documentary about the case, Coleen Rooney: The Real Wagatha Story, was released on Disney+ last year.
While the ITV network has not confirmed Coleen’s participation, a spokesperson said: “Any names suggested for I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! are just speculation at this stage.”
If she does join, she’ll follow in the footsteps of Rebekah Vardy, who appeared on the show in 2017.
The exact start date for this season of I’m A Celebrity has yet to be announced, but the show typically premieres in mid-November.
Last year, it kicked off on November 19th, suggesting a similar mid-month launch in 2024.
