It seems like every Irish celebrity has now pledged to join Charlie Bird on his hike up Croagh Patrick, and now we finally know when we'll get to see the lot of them head off. After opening up about his Motor Neurone Disease diagnosis on the Late Late Show last week, there has been an abundance of Irish stars that have said they would join him on the Croagh Patrick climb, including Vicky Phelan and Daniel O'Donnell. Taking to Twitter on Wednesday, the former RTÉ journalist said he's finally picked a day for the event to take place, and it's set to benefit two different charities. Charlie revealed that the big climb would take place on Saturday March 26th of next year, saying: "The announcement will come next week from Pieta House and The Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association, the two charities who will benefit from the climb. https://twitter.com/charliebird49/status/1471196078783533064 "All the relevant people in Mayo have come on board. They are going to give us a big Mayo welcome!" Followers of the journalist have said they'd be sure to make sure they have the date set aside, many commending his strength and motivation. One follower said: "Will be there. If it’s ok I’ll use opportunity to raise money for the #NorthLouthHospice. We have no residential hospice facility in the North East. Wonderful people but need more services & support." Another wrote: "Such an inspiration, the whole country will be behind you. Would gladly walk with you." A third said: "It's always been one I've thought of doing. You are the inspiration I needed to say why not, let's do this." Bird was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease earlier this year and is now doing as much as he can before the disease progresses.
