Returning to Work After Becoming a Mum
“I am enjoying being back. She (Sadie) was very little when I still had things to do, the Newbridge stuff and the shoe thing so I went to Australia and then said I was taking the rest of the summer off which was really nice, but a scary thing to do when you work for yourself... I think it’s a strange job because you don’t have a set maternity leave and this job is all momentum and you don’t want to lose that, but at the same time there are bigger things in life and I’m all about a balance. I’ve done a couple of things over the last while and I have an innate hunger to do something else. I’m glad that hasn’t gone away. It’ll be harder juggling things but I have a really great backup at home and it’ll be good to tell Sadie all my stories.”
Missing Threesome
“I do miss Threesome and it’s one of those things that everyone was saying that it had been pulled which it wasn’t. It was cast commitments and that was the reason it didn’t go again. It was a huge success and they really wanted to do it. Id’ say never say never but I think at the moment, it’s kind of gone on a little too long. I don’t know if the time would be right now... I loved it. It was one of my favourite jobs.”
Brian O’Driscoll’s Retirement
“It was the first thing I thought when the New Year rang in. I thought he’s retiring this year... I think there’ll be a bit of a transition period. We’re both looking forward to it. I know he’ll miss it. I’ll miss it. I’ve made great friends that I’ll keep but there’s a social element to it as well. I’ve been on some great trips abroad to Australia and New Zealand, Italy and France, and I’ve become very close to some of the girls.”
Adding to The Family
“I think for me personally it won’t be for a while. I feel like we’re getting our life back together now. She’s going to be one in three weeks so it’s a really nice age and time. Sadie has a personality and I’m not so sleep deprived now. I can actually think straight so yes, it feels easier and I’m in no rush to jump right back into that.”
Her Next Book
“I miss the writing but I’m not going to write a book for a while. I wouldn’t rule it out but I don’t want to do another one because I think it’s a pressure you put on yourself and it suddenly becomes this thing. It took me a long time to do the last one. I might do a bit of screenwriting. I haven’t done it before and I don’t know if I’d be any good at it but I might just because I might be able to do it faster which is always a bonus. It’s hard to know when you’re going to have time.”
Girl Crushes
“I have many... I love Amy Poehler and Kristin Wiig, all those guys at Parks and Recreation and Saturday Night Live. I crush on them a lot and Tina Fey. I just think they’re incredibly smart, funny women who don’t seem to take the whole thing seriously which is quite nice. They’re genuinely funny people and they seem nice as well.”
Her Favourite Disney Princess
“Who’s my favourite Disney Princess? Well, one of my favourite films was The Little Mermaid so probably Ariel. She had so much adversity to overcome and that little song about how she wanted to walk up where the people walk... but she’s not a princess though.”
(It’s okay, we’ll let that fact slide because it’s you Amy.)
