Beyoncé has contributed to a $6 million donation for Covid-19 relief efforts. The singer's charity BeyGOOD has partnered with Twitter's Jack Dorsey's #startsmall initiative to donate money to local organisations amid the coronavirus crisis. “Communities of color are suffering by epic proportions due to the [COVID-19] pandemic,” BeyGOOD said in a statement. “Many families live in underserved areas with homes that make it harder to practice social distancing. “Communities that were already lacking funds for education, health and housing are now faced with alarming infection rates and fatalities. And these communities lack access to testing and equitable health care. "These are unprecedented times and it will take our collective effort to make a difference.” The initiatives will be donating funds to charities including Bread For Life, No Kid Hungry, United Memorial Medical Center, and many others to ease the strain felt by those worst affected by Covid-19. “Black Americans disproportionately belong to these essential parts of the workforce that do not have the luxury of working from home," said BeyGOOD. "African-American communities at large have been severely affected in this crisis. “Those with pre-existing conditions are at an even higher risk. This virus is killing black people at an alarmingly high rate here in America.” This comes after Beyoncé took part in Lady Gaga's online charity concert, One World: Together At Home. The concert - featuring a considerable number of stars including Elton John, Stevie Wonder, John Legend, Sam Smith and many others - raised well over $125 million for Covid-19 relief.
