Sam Worthington has been arrested and charged with assault.
The
Avatar star was arrested in New York City after he punched a photographer who reportedly kicked his girlfriend Lara Bingle in the shin.
The couple were leaving Cubbyhole bar in Greenwich Village around 5.30pm on Sunday when the scuffle broke out. Worthington is said to have shouted “You kicked my wife” before assaulting Sheng Li.
According to the
New York Daily News,
Worthington was charged with assault in the third degree while Li was charged with assault, harassment and reckless endangerment.
Worthington, who has been in trouble with the authorities before, was later released on bail but is due to appear in court on February 26th.
Lara and Sam got into a scuffle with the paparazzi over the weekend.
