She might have an Oscar on her mantelpiece and a number of box office hits behind her but Halle Berry has revealed that she sometimes needs therapy to cope with the stresses of life.

In fact the actress said in a recent interview that she has been having over thirty years of therapy because of her alcoholic father Jerome.

 

The Cloud Atlas star revealed she has been having therapy since the age of ten.

Halle told HELLO! magazine: “I’ve done therapy on an as-needed basis since I was probably 10 years old.

“My father was an alcoholic and a very abusive one, and my mother knew the value of providing me with the outlet of an unbiased person to talk to, so I’ve done that all my life when times get stressful.”

The mother-of-one, who is engaged to Olivier Martinez, also admitted that she tends to keep her problems to herself.

She explained: “I try really hard not to take my problems out on others and, in order to do that, I tend to mask the bad stuff or deal with it internally – you know, keep my chin up, put on a brave face and just keep going.”
