Liam Neeson and Pamela Anderson have made the Irish sentimental again
It looks like Liam Neeson and Pamela Anderson's romance has helped many Irish people believe in love again.
The famous pair have inspired the nation with three in four Irish adults believing it's possible to find meaningful love in later life.
A new survey by Spry Finance found that millennials are the most romantic group in Ireland, with 84% saying that love never gets old.
Even among the more sceptical Gen X (45-54), more than two-thirds (68%) still believe love later in life is possible.
So, where are over-60s most likely to find love? Not on dating apps – just 8% of respondents believe going online is the best route to romance for older adults.
Instead, community groups and clubs top the list at 42% – pointing to the power of shared interests, social connections and staying active.
With more than 15% of the population aged over 65 – a figure that is increasing – the latest Spry Finance Later Life Insights research paints a positive picture of how Irish people across generations view ageing, romance, vitality and living a full life in retirement.
It shows that staying mentally sharp, getting regular exercise, and lifelong learning are now seen as key to ageing well. In fact, four in 10 people now say learning new things is just as important as eating healthy or staying social,
“Finding love–whether romantic, platonic or personal–remains one of life’s great adventures, no matter your age,” said Ailish McGlew, Head of Marketing and Communications at Spry Finance.
"These results highlight the optimism and openness that many people feel about later life. It’s a powerful reminder that community, connection and curiosity don’t have an expiry date."
