Emily Henry is our modern-day Nora Ephron

Fans will be thrilled to hear that another one of her best-sellers is being made into a film.

It feels like a given at this stage that an Emily Henry novel will be made into a film with her latest release Funny Story hitting the big screen.

This week, Variety confirmed that Henry will pen the screenplay adaptation of Funny Story.

Lyrical Media and Ryder Picture Company will produce the best-selling rom-com for the screen.

This is the first adaptation Henry will pen the script for so there's no doubt fans are overjoyed to see her work on the big screen.

Lyrical Media’s Alexander Black and Natalie Sellers and RPC’s Aaron Ryder and Andrew Swett will produce the film.

No director is attached to the project, but Nancy Meyers would be the perfect woman for the job.

A cast has also not been confirmed but fans are already coming up with their dream stars for the project.

Funny Story was published in the spring of 2024 but has already sold 800,000 copies in North America. Not only that but the novel debuted at number one on the New York Times bestsellers list.

What is Funny Story about?

Funny Story follows Daphne and Miles, two polar opposite housemates, who are forced to live together after their partners end their relationships and get together.

Daphne's ex Peter and Miles's ex Petra are now engaged and the two heartbroken singles are living together until Daphne attempts to get her life together.

Miles is the exact opposite of Daphne, and it's mostly just unbearably awkward until one drunken night. A tenuous friendship formed, Miles convinces her to give this idyllic town one last summer - he'll show her why he loves it and if they happen to post deliberately misleading photos of their adventures together, so be it.

But as Daphne starts to fall for the town, she is faced with a question: is Miles an interlude in her great love story with Peter, or was Peter just a footnote to that time she fell in love with her ex-fiance's new fiance's ex-boyfriend?
