Urban Decay has just announced that they will soon launch a limited-edition collection inspired by the legendary performer Prince. The cosmetics company have been working closely with the Prince Estate, as well as individuals who knew him personally, to develop the Prince x Urban Decay line. The musician's creative director Trevor Guy collaborated with Urban Decay, as did his muse and friend Damaris Lewis and his photographer Randee St. Nicholas. Lewis said that she was "very excited" for the collection's release. "I just hope it inspires you to make your own rules, just as Prince did for so many decades," the model said. Randee St. Nicholas, meanwhile, spoke about the importance of carrying on Prince's legacy. https://www.instagram.com/p/COiEguapJ85/ "He challenged you to rise to his level of work ethic and intensity – not in a way that was threatening or fearful, you just didn't want to disappoint him," she said. "He made you want to be your best, perform at the highest caliber and step outside of your comfort zone. When shooting, it was important to embody this boldness and freedom." Naturally, purple is the dominant colour of the collection, but beauty lovers can also look forward to some gold and black tones throughout the range. Urban Decay's co-founder Wende Zomnir acknowledged the challenge of paying homage to the ground-breaking star. "We couldn't possibly imitate someone as legendary as Prince, and to compare him to a palette would diminish what he represents," she said. "It's easy to say why this collection makes sense on the surface – his makeup looks and our shared love of purple – but we did our best to reflect his energy on a deeper level. We found his ethos of not asking permission to be who he was and owning it so boldly aligned with our values of breaking the mold and championing all forms of beauty." Prince x Urban Decay comes out later this month.
