Arriving at the popular Galway hotel on a Saturday afternoon we were struck by just how busy the location was, welcoming tourists from all over Ireland and beyond. However, the hustle and bustle was a distant memory mere minutes after stepping through the doors of the Spirit One Spa. 

An oasis of tranquility, we spent a happy hour flitting between the heated relaxation loungers, designed to hold your body in the most comfortable position possible, the Laconium; which offers a dry, gentle heat in a more relaxed environment with scented citrus oils and gentle light therapy, the Aroma Grotto; a steam, moisturising cabin which is ideal for conditioning the hair and skin, enhancing and promoting true relaxation using light, heat, colour and essential oil therapy, the Experience Showers, the Rock Sauna and the Sabia Med, or beach room.

Mind eased and body relaxed, it was time to head for our facial, which is clinically proven to reduce the number of wrinkles by up to 94% and improve skin firmness by up to 57%, after just one treatment. Big promises indeed! 

Both the new Elemis Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm and the Elemis Pro-Radiance Cream Cleanser are used, for a double, in-depth preparation of the skin.

The luscious new Elemis Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm was, frankly a revelation. The latest luxurious cleanser from Elemis, just released, it is a skin softening balm that melts on contact with the skin, using 100% naturally active essential oils to soothe and calm while adding a delicious aroma. The starflower oil and mimosa wax in the balm glide over the skin, removing make-up and impurities while protecting the lipid barrier.

The Quartz Lift peel-off mask left skin feeling squeaky clean, but at no point did it feel stripped of moisture, as can be the case with many facials.  

Specialised lifting massage techniques were then combined with Elemis Pro-Collagen anti-ageing products (including the birthday product – the Pro-Collagen Marine Cream – and the Pro-Collagen Quartz Lift Serum) for maximum treatment efficacy, supporting and strengthening the skin, helping collagen synthesis and maximising cell regeneration. 

The entire process felt soothing and cooling on the skin, and the pampering facial felt far removed from treatments where you almost need to feel the skin ‘react’ to feel like something is happening.

Just over an hour later, and my facial was done. Happily, the pampering was still underway. Another spell on the heated loungers and it was time to head for the outdoor hot tub to ease away any remaining aches from the working week. Bliss.
