Tackling drinkles and dehydrated skin.

With the extra few days off work, comes the extra few tipples we'll enjoy guilt-free. Yes, no doubt many of you are currently mid-glass and mid-prep for a night on the tiles tonight. However, as we well know, alcohol can have a nasty effect on our skin. Thankfully, there's an expert on hand to help our skin recover, an expert by the name of Jennifer Rock. Jennifer is the founder of the hugely successful brand, The Skin Nerd, and has been helping improve the skin of hundreds of women nationwide for years. It's safe to say she knows a thing or two about good skin care. So, what does Jennifer advise we do to help our skin during a long weekend such as this? We asked her just that and here's what she had to say. "Long weekends mean two things for many of us – boozy cocktail brunches and a good girls night out with let’s face it, more cocktails. However, alcohol in any amount has an effect on the skin – we all know the feeling of waking up worse for wear and splashing water on our parched, sandpaper faces. "Alcohol is a diuretic, meaning that it sucks the hydration right out of your skin, leaving it dry and a touch lifeless. It also causes drinkles, AKA dehydrated wrinkles. To tackle this what you need to do is pump the skin up with moisture again as quickly as humanly possible." Are you taking notes? "This means drinking lots of water and getting plenty of omegas into you as they help the Tupperware function of the skin to lock in moisture, popping on a hyaluronic-based serum and regularly partaking in Spritz O’Clock," Jennifer added. "Spritz O’Clock means using a hydrating facial mist, especially those with conditioning botanicals. You can do it whenever you feel like it but the more the better! It may even help with the hangover too. "If you plan on indulging this weekend but want to minimise any damage to that gorgeous complexion of yours, try to avoid sugary cocktails and fizzy mixers. "Otherwise, you’ll be left trying to tackle the effects of sugar AND the effects of alcohol, and you and your skin will certainly not be feeling too happy about that!" That's us told.
