Unlike the more subtle balayage, an ombre is less blended and there's more of a visible line where the two colours meet, making it a little more dramatic.
For blondes, its a great way to add some darker tones without too much commitment. Going all-over darker is pretty much permanent and it means you probably won't be able to be blonde again for a long time.
But with the reverse ombre, if you get sick of the dark colours, all you have to do is get a trim!
Of course, the look is not just for blondes, it's an easy way to add a pop of colour to darker hair too. Billie Eilish is a pioneer for the hairdo - the star rocked signature green roots and black hair for almost two years.
Experimenting with reverse ombre hair is a perfect way to breathe new life into your old hairstyle and its guaranteed to make you stand out from the crowd.
However, the disadvantage with this hair is that it's pretty high maintenance - if you have naturally dark hair, it's worth remembering that you're going to require frequent touch-ups.
If you've decided to give it a go, we recommend choosing the perfect complementary or contrasting hair colours for you with your hairdresser.
