A new beauty trend has emerged from London Fashion Week, and it’s leaving the ultra-smooth "glass skin" look in the past

Unlike previous trends that aimed for a flawless, almost airbrushed finish, renaissance skin embraces real skin - flaws and all.

Argentum skin expert, Vera Araujo, described it as skin with "colour, life, and health." 

Instead of stripping the skin, the focus is on protecting and feeding its microbiome, using gentle skincare to enhance its natural radiance. 

The skincare prep for this look plays a major role and Araujo revealed one particular product during London Fashion Week called l’eau de jouvence soothing silver tonic water, which contains DNA HP.

This is a new ingredient also found in injectable anti-aging treatments and "it’s the new upgrade from hyaluronic acid that has been used for years," she said. 

The goal is to purify and refresh the skin without being harsh. 

Makeup for the trend is inspired by strong Renaissance heroines and Lead MAC Cosmetics makeup artist, Dominic Skinner explained that bold blush placement is key to creating a powerful look. 

"For the cheeks, we wanted to create a flush, as though she’s just come back from battle," he says. 

The blush is applied straight across from the apples of the cheeks to the ears, creating a structured, bold effect. 

Soft gold accents on the eyes and deep berry lips complete the look, adding a regal but effortless feel. 

With renaissance skin gaining popularity, this year is going to be more about bold blush, soft eyes, and a return to natural beauty over heavy contouring and bronzing.
