Bellamianta and Iconic Bronze have issued a statement on the upcoming changes.

From April, new EU regulations stipulate that cosmetic products may not contain more than 10% of the active ingredient DHA (Dihydroxyacetone), which is used to darken the skin in fake tan. The official warning from the EU reads: "All Brand Owners of products containing DHA (Dihydroxyacetone) amend their Formulations to ensure they do not exceed the maximum amount of 10%. Roll out of these new regulations state that Brand Owners will no longer be permitted to sell to Retailers (B2B) from January 2022, And all Online / Ecommerce sales must cease from April 2022." Earlier this morning, Irish fake tan sister brands Bellamianta and Iconic Bronze issued a statement, explaining that they have spent the past 18 months working on a new formula which will be on sale from April. Meanwhile, they will still sale the old formula, while stocks last and until the regulations come in. In their joint statement, they said: "Both brands have researched and reformulated their vast self-tanning product ranges over the last 18 months to include new, safe and skin-loving ingredients to continue providing that luscious, bronzed hue they are most loved for in all of their shades Medium, Dark and Ultra / Extra Dark – no need to fear the loss of your favourite deep, dark shades." The brands' owner and founder Linda Stinson added: "At Bellamianta & Iconic Bronze, we have taken this change in regulations as a stepping stone for both brands to move further onto our next passion project and something we have been working on in the background for years – Skincare. At Bellamianta, skincare has and will continue to be at the forefront of our products. All of our products are vegan, cruelty-free, PETA approved, alcohol-free, and free of all other GMOs, sulphates and toxins." Yesterday, Suzanne Jackson of Dripping Gold outlined that she will pull her Ultra Dark tan from shelves in April, as her team continuing working on getting the formula right and in accordance with EU regulations.
