It’s a serious perk of the job here at Her.ie towers that we get to try and test some of the latest and greatest beauty releases and call it work. Lucky us. Here is a heads up on three products that got a communal thumbs up from the team in the week that was… _____________________________ Spring Summer Shades, RRP €8.95, Sally Hansen We have a lot of love for Sally Hansen nail shades in Her.ie Towers, but even more so this season as the US brand has paired up with top Irish designer (and Her.ie girl crush) Emma Manley to celebrate spring/summer 2014.  The new Sally shades perfectly complement the tones of the Manley spring collection, and we have some summer lovin’ going on for the six hues. Here’s what Emma has to say about them: Blue Streak – “Manley loves working with teal. It’s an easy colour to wear and demands attention without being in your face.  I love wearing ‘Blue Streak’ with navy and whites. It’s great for colour blocking and gives an outfit a modern edge.” Aria Red-y? – “Pink, a colour I don’t often wear. Perhaps I’m not girly enough or lets face it, brave enough!  So what better way to get it into a look then on your nails.  I love contrasting this pink with Manley SS14.  It adds the fun and feminine fuss.” Spruce Up – “For Spring / Summer, we tend to veer toward brighter shades.  This is why I take my hat off to ‘Spruce Up’.  It’s exactly what we need to contrast against summer brights.  There’s plenty of white in the Manley SS14 collection so why not tone it down with ‘Spruce Up’! “ Shore Enough – “I’m a huge fan of neutrals, sometimes less is more.  I love the simplicity of ‘Shore Enough’ against SS14’s metallics.  They demand enough attention as it is, so a neutral is definitely the way to go for an air of elegance.” Tahitian Sunset – “This is my go-to colour for SS14. It is elegantly bright, subtly girly and I can almost hear waves crashing on the beach when I look at it!  For me, this is the colour to wear with Manley’s more neutral shades for SS14.  A bright nail against our neutrals is the casually cool way to go.” Bleach Babe – “Perfectly white, with just a touch of sparkle, the ideal complement to the patent leather used in Manley SS14.  White is fresh, fun and futuristic.  Use it to give an outfit a more contemporary edge.”   Spray and Go, RRP €6.15, Vaseline Two things any beauty fan loves; a product that works fast and a bargain. Step forward Vaseline. The original multi-tasker, there will always be a little blue tin in our beauty bags, but if you haven’t yet expanded your Vaseline product range you are missing out. The latest additions to the collection are these sprayable body lotions, which moisturise deeply and are happily absorbed in seconds – we all know every second counts in the morning. The formula includes Vaseline’s Stratys-3™ multi-layer moisture so lotion absorbs into skin with a few quick rubs. The range comes in three 190ml variants; Cocoa, Aloe Fresh and Oat Extract. Her.ie’s favourite is Oat Extract, which smells like a summer’s day. Divine.   Advanced Pigment Corrector, RRP €100, SkinCeuticals Our splurge recommendation this week will be of interest to those of us with deep rooted discolouration, a skin condition that can really knock your confidence and can prove very difficult to tackle. Over half of females between the ages of 35-59 cite discolouration and uneven skin tone as a more significant concern than loss of firmness. This wonder product from SkinCeuticals introduces a multi-layered approach to correcting and preventing unwanted hyperpigmentation. Advanced Pigment Corrector features two high potency ingredients, clinically tested to work as efficiently as the leading pigment correcting ingredients to reduce skin discolouration. Ellagic Acid has proved efficacy in reducing dark spots and hyperpigmentation, while Hydroxyphenoxy Propionic Acid is a non-Toxic derivative of hydroquinone, proven to diminish the appearance of discolourations.
