It's like the 'little black dress' of make-up... except it's bloody unattainable.
Ok... it's not unattainable, but frequently when attempting the classic smokey eye, we end up looking like we've done three rounds with Katie Taylor, or we simply look like a racoon. Often labelled a timeless 'sexy' look (there's our first problem) if you can achieve it hats off, for most of us... we need to call in the cavalry.

We've compiled a list of the 5 struggles we all go through when attempting the PERFECT smokey eye.
- Blending - No word of a lie, some of us in the Her offices have spent an entire afternoon attempting to blend a smokey eye. You try and blend up... you try and blend out... you do EVERYTHING they say in the beauty blogs. Next thing you know, it's dinner time and you give up.

- Eyeshadow on your chin - This actually comes as a direct result of that pesky blending we spoke about, the fall down from a smokey look is too much to take, and you NEVER get it all.

- Unevenness - And the lord said unto thee...thou shall NEVER have even eye makeup. You get one eye completely perfect, then the other one JUST WON'T PLAY BALL.

- Forgetting your eyebrows - You've spent so long on the eyeshadow you leave your house without the brows. Cue weird stares and awkward pointing.

- Too smokey for daytime - In the words of Kim Kardashian to her mother "Do you think your eyes are a little too smokey for daytime?"... yes, we've all done it, you read the blogs, you practise endlessly and by the time you leave the house your smokey eye is ON FLEEK. The problem is, it's 2pm on a Wednesday afternoon... too much.
