Brought to you by Specsavers Ireland
I thought I had perfect vision until I went for my first eye test this year. It was something I put off for a little too long, but I quickly arranged an appointment once my friend told me the eye test might be covered by my PRSI.
There’s very little we get for free in life, but so many of us are missing out on claiming free eye tests and glasses. You only need approximately one year of PRSI contributions to be eligible, so get your eye test booked before the Christmas madness ensues.
It’s something I wish I had never put off because the Specsavers team told me I had pretty poor eyesight and I had done nothing about it.
The difference in my vision since wearing my glasses is pretty shocking. A friend described it as being able to see in 4K, and I couldn’t agree more.
The numbers on buses are no longer blurry; I can actually see cinema screens clearly, and I’m no longer getting headaches all of the time.
Leaving this benefit unclaimed is something millions of Irish people are doing, but why not tick this task off your list before the year is over?
Even if you don’t suspect you need glasses, eye health should be prioritised, and since it’s free for so many people, you may as well avail of it.

All you need to do is give your PPS number when you book an appointment, and Specsavers will check your eligibility for you. It’s really as simple as that.
After your eye test, you can browse the collection of glasses available for free or the wider range which you can use your contributions towards and embrace your stylish glasses-wearing alter ego by trying them all on.
Booking an eye test is about more than just your sight; it’s about your overall eye health. And you’re likely entitled to free care with Specsavers.
Book a PRSI test today (including your PPS number) and see the fruits of your labour. After all, you’ve earned it.
